The Line of Duty cast briefly reprised their AC-12 roles for a lockdown video in aid of charity Asks for Masks.

Vicky McClure, Martin Compston and Adrian Dunbar, who play Kate Fleming, Steve Arnott and Ted Hastings respectively on the BBC police drama, appeared in the short video.

Show creator Jed Mercurio posted the clip on Twitter, writing: "We hope you enjoy another #LineofDuty lockdown video with our special guest stars. Please support @asksformasks by bidding in this week’s charity auction”.

Other TV detectives from Unforgotten and Life on Mars popped up in the sketch.

The skit saw Vicky McClure, as Kate Fleming, watching The Nest - a BBC drama from earlier this year that starred co-star Martin Compston - in a onesie.

Steve Arnott then logged in from his swimming pool in Vegas - which is where actor Compston really lives - as Ted Hastings said: “Steve, I hope that virtual background isn’t costing me an arm and a leg, son”.

Hastings then nodded to the fact the sixth season of Line of Duty was put on hold due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. “That’s the problem - nothing's going on!” he says.

He then asked what other TV coppers are up to - prompting Unforgotten’s Suni Kaan (Sanjeev Bhaskar), Life on Mars’ Philip Gene Hunt (Phillip Glenister) and Midsummer Murders’ John Barnaby (Neil Dudgeon) to appear on screen.

“What about that DCI with the suspicious clusters of geographically implausible murder cases?" Hastings asked in a tongue-in-cheek nod to Midsomer Murders.

DCI Barnaby, played by Neil Dudgeon, then replied with: “Like you lot can talk about plausibility”.

Finally Hastings said: “There’s only one thing I’m interested in and one thing only, and that’s everyone keeping well”.

The cast and guest stars then asked viewers to support Asks For Masks, which is currently holding an online auction to raise money for PPE for frontline healthcare staff.

Last week show creator Jed Mercurio admitted the sixth series of Line of Duty may have to be rewritten due to the coronavirus crisis.
