He may rule the world of reality TV, but until a few weeks ago Joey Essex knew absolutely nothing about politics.

However, as the general election loomed, he decided it was time to brush up on the political parties and get ready to vote with a special edition of Educating Joey Essex, titled General Election, What Are You Sayin?!

Joey spoke to London Live about the show, saying it’s his favourite episode.

“It was the best show I've probably ever done, because I got to meet all these amazing people, hang around with political leaders,” he said. “They’re like kings of the country, they’re all trying to rule the world.”

When asked why he decided to do an election show, he explained: “No-one really knows how to vote, why they should vote, can’t even be bothered to vote, people don’t really understand it. It’s like a different world. I’m trying to tell the youth and make the youth understand how to vote and why you should vote, it’s not that hard.”

If he learned anything, it’s that the world of politics isn't that grown up after all.

“All the leaders and stuff […] they’re about as mature as me. They call each other names, they banter each other, they mug each other off, and that’s what you do in like, when you’re like, young. They’re like, 30s, 40s and that.”

He also spoke about why Ed Miliband would be the best political leader to hit Essex (“Because of his haircut”), why he couldn’t get David Cameron on the show (“I think he’s just busy, isn't he?”), as well as taking a general election quiz to see what’s stuck with him.
