They say that if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it – and this attempt to try something new on I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here proved exactly why.
While the show has always seen hosts Ant and Dec visit the jungle camp to deliver news about evictions and Bushtucker Trials face to face, they attempted a different mode of communication that all went a bit wrong.
The arrival of a classic British telephone box in the latest series meant that Ant and Dec were able to phone through to the camp rather than going to visit them.
However, calling from a mobile phone, the duo’s call to Vicky Pattison was thwarted by technical issues. After asking Pattison to gather her team and head to the Bush Telegraph, the Geordie Shore star said: “Ant, I’ve lost you.”
After a member of production staff told the Vicky and her team where they needed to go, Dec was heard saying: “Why didn’t they just do that in the first place instead of you having to ring?”, perhaps unaware that his microphone was still on.
That wasn’t the end of it though – once in the Bush Telegraph, further sound difficulties meant that Vicky, Duncan Bannatyne and George Shelley were unable to hear Ant and Dec’s instructions.
But wait, there’s more – another phone call through to Ferne McCann also ended abruptly, when she put the phone down midway through the conversation.
