Great British Bake Off contestant Ruby Tandoh has come out on Twitter in spectacular style.

Tandoh, who featured on the BBC One series in 2013, announced the news on Twitter by sharing a YouTube video of Diana Ross' hit I'm Coming Out.

The talented baker shared the video with the caption: "me to my parents today. feeling lucky and joyful and f r e e. over and Out.

She heaped praise on "Twitter's queer queens", adding that without the support of people on social media, she never would have had the courage to publicly reveal her sexuality.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en">&amp; to all the bros who hate social media, who pit it against 'real life'- i never would've had courage to be me w/out twitter's queer queens— Ruby Tandoh (@rubytandoh) <a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href="https://twitter.com/rubytandoh/status/583617949317124096" class="body-link" data-vars-item-name="BL-72041-https://twitter.com/rubytandoh/status/583617949317124096" data-vars-event-id="c23">April 2, 2015</a>

Tandoh also hit out at those who criticised her for supposedly flirting with celebrity chef Paul Hollywood in a bid to influence the competition in her favour.

She said: "p.s. for those who thought I fancied Paul Hollywood or that I'd ever bang him to get ahead, the jokes on you, you massive s******g misogynists."

Responding to messages on her account, she said coming out was "the best place to be" and "the best thing I've ever done".

Since her appearance on the show, Tandoh has written a book titled, Crumb: The Baking Book, and in there she sought to address the claims pitted against her.

“I’d rather eat my own foot than attempt to seduce my way to victory, and even if I had any intention playing that card, it’s insulting to both the judges to suggest that they’d ever let their professional integrity be undermined in that way.”
