The latest episode of Game of Thrones has leaked online ahead of its broadcast on HBO and Sky Atlantic.

Episode four of the seventh season of the hit fantasy show was made available on Google Drive and quickly circulated on Reddit on Friday, before being removed.

The copy of the eagerly-awaited new episode featured a ‘for internal viewing only’ watermark, suggesting that it is the genuine episode.

HBO was subject to a cyber-attack earlier this week, but reports suggest that the leak was from a distribution partner rather than the network itself.

Star India has confirmed that that it was their database that was compromised after their watermarked appeared on the recording.

“This confirms the compromise of episode 4 of Game of Thrones Season 7, earlier this afternoon,” said a Star India spokesperson.

“We take this breach very seriously and have immediately initiated forensic investigations at our and the technology partner’s end to swiftly determine the cause.

“This is a grave issue and we are taking appropriate legal remedial action.”

HBO was under threat of its own internal leak this week after the studio was hit with a ‘major cyber-incident’, in which data was stolen from their servers.

According to Entertainment Weekly, hackers threatened to post confidential details about the hit fantasy series, having already done so with shows including Ballers and Room 104.

“HBO recently experienced a cyber-incident, which resulted in the compromise of proprietary information,” read a statement from the company.

“We immediately began investigating the incident and are working with law enforcement and outside cybersecurity firms.

“Data protection is a top priority at HBO, and we take seriously our responsibility to protect the data we hold.”
