It appears Westeros may be more modern than fans first thought after a takeaway coffee cup was spotted in episode four.

Everyone was celebrating the Battle of Winterfell and toasting those who perished after Arya Stark killed the Night King last week.

Tormund Giantsbane was knocking back ale out of a Viking horn, while Daenerys Targaryen was cradling a chalice.

But, she appeared to also be enjoying a hot drink as eagle-eyed fans spotted a takeaway coffee cup sitting next to her on the table.

Debate raged over whether it was a Starbucks drink or that Westeros’ best kept secret is a coffee shop none of us knew about. Some called for the cup to be awarded its own Emmy, while others joked it should take the Iron Throne.

One viewer tweeted: “You're telling me they had TWO YEARS to put together a decent show and they couldn't even spot the goddamn Starbucks cup in Winterfell??!?! #GameOfThrones.”

Another wrote: “Guys it’s not Starbucks, it’s Winterfell’s own coffee chain “Dire cup” #GameofThrones.”

Others joked about the difficulty barristas’ would have with spelling out some of the characters names on their cups after taking a drink order.

Spelling out Dany’s real name, one posted: “Daenerys Stormborn of House Targaryen, the First of Her Name, Queen of the Andals and the First Men, Protector of the Seven Kingdoms, the Mother of Dragons, the Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, the Unburnt, the Breaker of Chains, and Drinker of Pumpkin Spice.”

Another wrote: “That Winterfell starbucks cashier ain't ready to write Dany's name on her coffee cup #GameofThrones.”

Game of Thrones is on Sky Atlantic, tonight at 9pm. It is also available on NOW TV.
