The ninth series of Doctor Who hasn’t even started yet, but there is already talk about when the tenth series of the classic sci-fi series will arrive.

Private Eye have reported that there will be no full Doctor Who series in 2016, as showrunner Steven Moffat will be too busy rustling up a new series of his other hit BBC drama Sherlock.

It wouldn’t be the first time that Moffat’s two shows have had to jostle for his attention. When Sherlock Series 3 was produced during 2013, Doctor Who did not have a full series and instead produced two extended special episodes. While a new series of Doctor Who begins in September this year, there will only be one special episode of Sherlock.

A spokesperson for the BBC has said: "It's too early to confirm the schedule for future series at this point, but the new series starts on Saturday, September 19."

Would Moffat be able to produce a full 12-episode run of Doctor Who and three 90-minute Sherlock episodes within the same year? We reckon he’d probably need a TARDIS and a mind-palace to fit all that in at the same time.
