Men - beware the ladies' loos

A play set in the ladies' loo of a pub may be an unfamiliar setting even if the themes are not.

For The Shagaround, which opens tomorrow night, explores infidelity and other everyday deceits. It also plunges one hapless male into the eye of a comical female storm after he is locked in the lavatory with a vengeful host of women enraged that one of their number has been dumped.

The fact that he appears to have been cheating on another of the women leaves him in a terrifying predicament. The play, written by first-timer Maggie Nevill, was spotted by director Patrick Sandford. He said: "I think she's been knocked out by how funny people find the play - I think she knew she had written a comedy but I'm not sure she realised how funny it really is."

In addition to Toyah Wilcox, The Shagaround stars Luisa Bradshaw-White - Kira from This Life - and Diane Parish who appeared in Breath, Boom at the Royal Court.

A spokesman for the Soho Theatre said: "It's like Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus meets Men Behaving Badly written by women." A frightening prospect for any male.
