Lynn Nottage’s hit play Sweat is extending its Donmar Warehouse run due to high demand.

The production, which has been met with rave reviews from critics and audiences alike, will add an extra week, with the show now closing on February 2.

The theatre is also making 250 free tickets available to those aged 25 and under via the Young+Free initiative, which will bring the number of young people and students seeing the production for free up to more than 1,000.

Directed by Lynette Linton, the show is based on Nottage’s own experiences in the city of Reading, Pennsylvania. She spent time with the citizens of the town, one of the poorest in the USA, documenting their lives divided by racial tension and economic collapse.

The Standard’s Fiona Mountford gave the show five stars, saying: “Lynette Linton’s superbly calibrated production excels from start to finish. Outstanding.”

Tickets for the extension will go on sale at 10am on January 14. The ballot for Young+Free tickets is open now. The tickets will be allocated from January 15. Visit donmarwarehouse.com
