Stone Roses star John Squire to showcase paintings with new London exhibition

Robert Dex @RobDexES6 August 2019

The Stone Roses guitarist John Squire is showing a series of paintings at Damien Hirst’s gallery.

The musician created oil paintings by taking photos and then distorting and enlarging them before copying the results on to canvas.

Included in the show is this image, The Way Things Aren’t, 2018, photographed by Prudence Cuming Associates.

Squire rose to fame in the band whose debut album is seen as a modern classic. He designed the Stone Roses’ album and single covers and promotional posters.

The exhibition, Disinformation, is at Newport Street Gallery in Vauxhall from September 11 to November 10.
