Fortnite servers are back online as Epic Games has implemented the latest patch version 13.40 for the popular battle royale game.

Epic Games confirmed the downtime for Fortnite earlier today and the game was taken offline as of 9am BST.

Servers are now back online after the downtime lasted for just over three hours. This update had added drivable cars into the game at long last, which was first teased when the latest season began.

Now the update has been rolled out, players will be able to download it, log back in and start winning.

The official Twitter page for Fortnite's server status shared the information earlier today.

As for specific patch notes, some influences get access to an early form of them from Epic Games.

According to Fortnite data miner @iFireMonkey on Twitter, the following changes are coming:

Joy Ride Update

Driving will be arriving in Fortnite. Fuel up at new gas station locations and learn to handle all the new cars and driving styles.

Groove to the music

Radio stations have now been added, playing popular music as you explore around the island.

Summer Splash Limited-time modes

New summer LTMs continue this week, this time adding Gungame and One Shot.

Coral Castle

In case you missed it, Aquaman's home of Atlantis – Coral Castle – appeared on the map now that the water has receded.

You can find it in the north-west quadrant of the map.

Party Royale

There will be new events happening in Party Royale, the pacifist mode where Fortnite hosts live music, talkshow and more.

Japanese artist Kenshi Yonezu will be hosting a show at the Main Stage soon.

There will, of course, be more changes and bug fixes added but these are the main points given out by Epic Games beforehand.

We have updated this article to reflect the servers coming back online. You can now log in and play Fortnite
