Whoopi Goldberg has been chosen to host this year's Oscar ceremony in March.
The actress, who won an Oscar for Ghost, last hosted the ceremony in 1998. She follow's last year's master of ceremonies Steve Martin and Billy Crystal, who has presented the event seven times but declared himself unavailable this year.
The 2002 Academy Awards will be the first to be held at the new $500 million Kodak Theatre, specially built for the ceremony.
