This week's gross-out comedy starts with Mitch (Luke Wilson) coming home unexpectedly and finding his wife watching porn - and doing it. (Blow jobs in a Cert 15 film: how soon before the 12As can access "adult" stuff ?)
His buddy Frank (Will Ferrell), who is getting married, is afflicted by a sudden crippling thought at the altar: "One vagina for
the rest of your life." Their pal Beanie (Vince Vaughn) has the solution to all such crises of male confidence - revert to adolescence and set up a fraternity house on campus where they can bawl out male "pledges", stage orgies, bed high-school bimbos, streak down Main Street, and put guys through ritual humiliations in an infantile display of American male testosterone in the fermenting stage.
Its grosser moments maybe don't have the wince-factor of Jackass, though lining up guys with breeze-blocks tied to their genitals and asking them to trust that the cord is long enough to reach the ground when the blocks are dropped from a great height suggests that at least Hollywood's best minds haven't reached the end of their tether.
The film is executiveproduced by two men: one of them formerly headed a major Hollywood film studio, the other has made respectable comedies in his time.
I suppose they both can still face their wives.
