Hot tip: Sarah Pascoe
5 April 2012

Here are the biggest comedy gigs in the capital this weekend...

Laughs in the Park
Comedy line-ups do not get stronger than this. Eddie Izzard, Ross Noble and Tommy Tiernan make up the nightly bills at this spectacular open-air festival. Last year Izzard headlined but the gig was in September and conditions were arctic. Hopefully this stellar trio should get a warmer glow this weekend.
Until Sunday 24 July, Verulamium Park, St Albans (0843 221 0977, hmv.com/hmvweb)

Sam Simmons
Think your life is bad? Australian absurdist Simmons will trump you with his show Fail, in which he reflects on losing his girlfriend, money and nearly his sanity. The irony is that just when he thought things could not get any worse they didn't - he came up with this hit and got back on track.
Until July 30, Soho Theatre, W1 (020 7478 0100, sohotheatre.com)

Sarah Pascoe
One of the Edinburgh Fringe's hot tips polishes her act before heading north. Pascoe should be familiar from C4's Asylum but she comes into her own as a solo storyteller, bursting with warped, witty ideas. In this latest monologue she considers the end of the world and wonders how to kill a zombie.
Sunday, Canal Cafe, W2
(020 7289 6054, canalcafetheatre.com)
