A new landscape photography exhibition makes abstract beauty from nature

Beauty truly does lie in the eyes of the beholder at Vision 9, a new exhibition at the Oxo Gallery that showcases nine different contemporary photographers’ interpretations of the world’s greatest views.

From twinkling city skylines to raging seascapes, this exhibition seeks to highlight the beauty of the variety, says organizer Beata Moore. By bringing nine different photographers all under the same roof, visitors will have the rare opportunity to compare and contrast some of the industry’s brightest names side to side, demonstrating the complexity of contemporary photographing.

Featured photographers include Doug Chinnery, Valda Bailey and even Rachael Talibart, Black + White magazine’s Photographer of the Year. While Tailbart’s seaside piece, “Poseidon Rising,” was captured in one thousandth of a second, photographer Cheryl Hamer opted for long exposures and splashes of colour to portray the swell of the waves in “Swirling Light.”

Similarly, Royal Photographic Society Fellow Lina Wevill experimented with varying shutter speeds to textured layers in her seascape shots, exemplifying the many methodologies in which photographs can be captured.

Vision 9 will run at gallery@oxo from April 11th – 15th 2018. Entry is free, and opening times are between 11am – 6pm.
