Tony Evans’s criticism of Leicester’s former manager Claudio Ranieri [Sport, February 27] shows a lack of perspective.

Ranieri tried different formations, bought younger players such as Wilfred Ndidi and Demarai Gray and oversaw the development of home-produced talents such as Ben Chilwell.

Yes, some of the players seemed uninterested this season, especially Riyad Mahrez, and Monday night’s 3-1 victory against Liverpool raises the question of why their form has been so erratic.

But Evans’s support of Leicester’s board is misplaced (just ask supporters of Leyton Orient, Blackpool, Blackburn or Portsmouth what they think of their boards!).

Ranieri will always be a hero to Leicester City fans because he never lost his cool or made excuses.
