City Spy: LSE’s Rolet raises a titter on Twitter

Twitter is a minefield for company bosses, as London Stock Exchange boss Xavier Rolet proved yesterday.

Tweeting about the new London-listed Chinese tracker fund launched by GF International, the Frenchman included the @GFInternational handle but did not realise it wasn’t the correct account.

The profile in fact claimed to belong to a Linda Chandler, whose only tweet to date was a picture of a topless woman with the caption “I’m a virgin, and you? Click, don’t be shy,” and a link to a racy site called Your Pleasure. Oops.

It can’t be true — can it? — that sensible, likeable, modest type Ian Cheshire has changed his email address to Sir Ian Cheshire.

City folk who correspond with the former Kingfisher boss — who is now Debenhams chairman — report, with a sigh, that it is.

Perhaps he just wanted to change his name because he’s sick of us pointing out that it’s an anagram of Ian Cheshire is I Cash In Here.
