High-end lager lifts SABMiller

Premium: more expensive lagers such as Nastro Azzurro are still proving popular

Times are hard, but for a certain breed of drinker expensive lager such as Peroni and Pilsner Urquell remains on the menu.

That's good news for brewer SABMiller, which is doing well in a UK market that is mostly struggling.

Across Europe, SAB says that lager volumes fell by 3% in the year to March.

Poland and the Czech Republic, which are big markets, are particularly tough.
