International retailers are shrugging off political chaos in Britain and investing in debut London shops, it was claimed on Friday as a luxury Italian furniture firm inked a deal to open on Fulham Road.

Giorgetti, which was founded in 1898 and sells sofas, desks and beds, has signed a lease for 3741 square feet with landlord The Wellcome Trust, to open its first UK branch in November.

It will be a triple-fronted shop at 52-58 Fulham Road .

Tiffany Luckett, associate director in the retail team at Savills, which brokered the letting alongside agent Thomas Pain & Company, said London “remains a strong and dominant force in terms of global sales for retailers”.

She added: “Having a London address is very much a statement of a brand and their ambition for the future, which many see as a necessity if they wish to grow internationally.”

Upmarket retailers to open in the capital this year have included Danish fashion firm Ganni.
