Dairy Crest cheese boost on board

Cathedral City maker Dairy Crest today said higher cheese profits had underpinned improved trading in the six months to September 30 while sales of low-fat spreads had increased.

The firm has also signed new supply deals with supermarkets Sainsbury's and Morrisons, but added that intense competition was squeezing volumes in its milk business.
