Christian Louboutin UK returns to profit as sales jump

Christian Louboutin, the luxury footwear brand that has been worn by popstars including Taylor Swift and Rita Ora, has stepped back into the black in the UK new accounts show.

Documents filed with Companies House for Christian Louboutin UK also outlined how sales are bouncing back following Covid-19 disruption that hurt retailers.

In the year to August 2022 turnover soared 48.3% to £53.4 million as trade benefited from lockdown rules being lifted and international tourists coming back to stores here.

Designer Christian Louboutin founded his eponymous brand famous for its signature red soles in Paris in 1991 with co-founder Bruno Chambelland. Today it has an online business and is sold from 150 locations across the world.

The UK business, which recorded a pre-tax profit of £1.2 million up from a £3.2 million pre-tax loss, sells shoes from 12 sites including concessions and a standalone shop on Mount Street in Mayfair.

The firm, owned by parent company Christian Louboutin SAS, said in its report: “The directors remain confident that in the longer term the business will deliver sustainable sales growth.”
