Gin and tonics were raised today as Fever-tree Drinks, the producer of premium mixers, unveiled sparkling maiden results.

The London-based firm which floated last November saw sales and and earnings grow by almost 50% last year.

Its shares, which were placed at 134p four months ago, rose 4p to a new high of 219p.

The firm said that demand for premium mixers, in particular tonic, to go with ever increasing demand for premium spirits meant it continues to outgrow its bigger rivals.

It is also expanding rapidly across the globe with its first entry into the Indian market last year.

Sales rose by 49% to £34.7 million in the 12 months to December with operating profits up from £3 million to £8.1 million. A debut final dividend of 0.3p a share is being paid.

Joint founder and executive deputy chairman Charles Rolls said: “We are confident that we will continue to be able to grow and lead in this premium segment, which we believe will outperform other drinks categories for some time to come as the natural ratio between premium spirits and premium mixers equilibrates.”
