Developer for Crawley town centre selected

The long awaited redevelopment of Crawley Town Centre has taken a step forward today.

Crawley Council has formally recommended developer Stanhope – best known for Broadgate in the City – as development partner. The West Sussex town suffered a set-back when Grosvenor ended its plan to redevelop the 1950s-designed town centre last year.

John Lewis is considering opening a store and the new scheme will be scaled down to around 500,000 square feet.

Stanhope beat developers Centros, part of Delancey with Development Securities and Australian property company Lend Lease for the Town Centre North redevelopment.
